About the Library of Things

The Library of Things (LoT) is a community-led initiative that allows people to borrow useful items instead of buying them—helping to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and make

everyday life more affordable. This exciting project is run entirely by volunteers and relies on community support.

We are looking for a Volunteer Rota Coordinator to help organise and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring that all shifts are covered and that volunteers are well-supported. If you enjoy coordinating teams, organising schedules, and working with people, this role is perfect for you!

Key Responsibilities

· Create and maintain a rota to ensure volunteer coverage during opening hours.

· Communicate with volunteers to confirm their availability and fill any gaps in the rota.

· Recruit new volunteers if needed, working alongside other team members.

· Ensure all volunteers are informed of their shifts and responsibilities.

· Provide support and guidance to volunteers when required.

· Report to the Library Coordinator on any shortages or scheduling challenges.

What skills do I need?

Skills & Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, and no formal qualifications are required. However, the following skills would be helpful:

· Good organisational and scheduling skills.

· Strong communication and people skills.

· Confidence using spreadsheets or scheduling tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, or scheduling apps).

· Ability to problem-solve and adapt to last-minute changes.

If you enjoy organising people and ensuring things run smoothly, this role is a perfect fit.
