About the Library of Things
The Climate Action Network and it's new Library of Things (LoT) project is a community-led initiative that allows people to borrow useful items instead of buying them helping to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and make everyday life more affordable. The project is run entirely by volunteers and relies on community support.
We are looking for a Website Volunteer (Digital & Tech Support) to help create, maintain, and improve our website, ensuring a smooth online experience for users. If you have skills in website management, digital tools, or tech troubleshooting, this is a great opportunity to apply your expertise to a meaningful community project.
Role Overview
As Website Volunteer (Digital & Tech Support), you will be responsible for managing and updating the Library of Things’ website, ensuring that information is current, and the booking system functions properly. You will also have the opportunity to suggest and implement improvements to enhance the user experience.
This role is perfect for someone with web design or digital skills who wants to contribute to a sustainability-focused community project.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and maintain a simple, user-friendly website for the Library of Things.
· Ensure the online inventory and booking system is kept up to date.
· Troubleshoot any technical issues with the website.
· Improve website usability and design to enhance the user experience.
· Support the Publicity & Community Engagement Volunteer by integrating social media and promotional content into the website.
· Research best practices from other Library of Things initiatives and implement improvements.
Skills & Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)
No formal qualifications are required, but the following skills would be beneficial:
· Experience with website creation and management (e.g., WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or similar platforms).
· Basic coding knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) would be helpful but not required.
· Familiarity with online booking systems or databases.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Enthusiasm for sustainability and community-driven initiatives.
If you enjoy working on websites, problem-solving, and using tech for good, we’d love to hear from you!
