Gateway Assessors help clients get the right help and advice to address the problems they face at the right time.  After full training you will assess people's needs, either face-to-face or over the phone, and identify the most appropriate course of action to address their problem.  This might be through providing self-help information, referral to a specialist organisation or an appointment with an adviser.  You will also be required to record client details on our computer system to ensure continuity of support and quality of advice.

We are a local charity that helps people resolve the legal problems they face including issues with debt, welfare benefits, housing, employment, relationship breakdown, consumer issues and immigration.  We do this by providing free, independent and confidential advice and by influencing policy makers.  Our service is delivered Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm via telephone, email, webchat and face to face appointments.

What skills do I need?

Specific qualifications or experience are not required to train for the role but you do need to be non-judgemental, a good listener and open minded.  You should enjoy helping people and be a good communicator who is able to summarise information and explain it clearly and concisely.  Basic computer/keyboard skills are also required.

Full training will be given and you will be joining a friendly, supportive team.
