Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (SH)
Our Hospice Home Support volunteers can ease the stress of patients by helping with practical side of life. From taking patients shopping to helping around the home, or just sitting and having a chat, our volunteers can make everyday life more manageable for everyone. Other areas for support include helping to get to GP/hospital appointments, accompanying to shops/garden centres, help around the home, giving a carer a short break.
Training to become a Hospice Home Support is offered once a year in January/February. Anyone interested in volunteering must be aware that their details will be taken but will have to wait for the next training programme.
The hospice offers full training so previous experience is not essential.
To visit weekly for up to 3 hours each week to a patient.
To attend introduction training including safeguarding and moving and handling. On-going training is given throughout the year. Support Groups are run monthly.
