The Role

We’re looking for a Poppy Appeal Organiser to co-ordinate the Poppy Appeal locally, in Chertsey

Whether you're a group of friends, work colleagues or an individual wanting to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Being a Poppy Appeal Organiser is a great way to meet new people and make a real difference to members of the Armed Forces, ex-Service men and women (veterans), their families and dependants.

You DO NOT need to be a member of the British Legion or have served!

It’s a great experience if you are looking for a career in events, fundraising or any career where people skills are key.

You will be supported by the West Surrey Poppy Appeal Manager, access to a car is very important to transport the poppies and collecting tins. Mileage is paid on journeys on behalf of the Poppy Appeal. 

What skills do I need?

Responsibilities could include;

• Contacting schools, businesses and stations to arrange the delivery of poppies and tins
• Recruiting and organising collectors to assist you during the Poppy Appeal in October/November.
• Ordering stock from our warehouse.
• Preparing and delivering poppies and tins then ensuring they are collected safely.
• Organising street collections

You can organise the counting, banking and recording of donations, alternatively we can arrange access to a central counting house.

Some Poppy Appeal Organisers additionally:

• Organise all year-round fundraising events from talent shows or jumble sales to bake offs and raffles
• Get involved in campaigning for the Poppy Appeal to raise awareness in the local area eg contacting local media to boost publicity, giving talks in schools etc.
