Volunteer Retail Assistant Sandhurst (SH)

We have vacancies in our Sandhurst shop so why not join the fantastic team of volunteers at Thames Hospice! 

It costs £7 million per year to run the Hospice; that's where our Volunteer Retail Assistants play a crucial part in enabling us to offer our services to patients and their families for free.  Volunteer Retail Assistants help us to raise funds in our shops by carrying out a variety of interesting tasks.  Volunteering is fun and a sociable way to put your skills to good use or learn new skills, all while making a massive difference to the lives of patients in your local area.

Tasks include:

• Talking to customers and making them feel welcome in the shop
  
• Advising and helping customers as they browse
• Receive, sort, price and prepare for sale, donated and new bought-in-goods
• Operating the till and dealing with various types of payment
• Answering customer queries
• Keeping an eye on the security in the shop
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Promote Gift Aid, the Hospice Lottery and other incentives

What skills do I need?

We are looking for volunteers:

To be interested in the work of Thames Hospice

Good communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to get along with people and work as part of a team

Basic numeracy skills

You must be over the age of 16 and have finished secondary school education. No previous experience is required as the shop manager will give full training and support.
