Spelthorne ParaSports Club (SPSC)
Boccia is a disability sport which is similar to bowls and petanque. The aim of the game is to propel leather balls coloured red, or blue, close to a white target ball (the jack). It is played from a seated position and the ball can be moved with the players hands, feet or an assistive device e.g. a head or hand pointer.
The club is open to adults and young people aged 14 + with disabilities.
The volunteer role will involve in assisting club members to play boccia. There may be the opportunity for the volunteer to attend relevant training to assist with their role.
The role will involve working with people with disabilities so it is important that the volunteer is flexible, adaptable and patient. Any previous experience working with people with disabilities or sports coaching is desirable but not essential. An interest in Sport, health or physical activity is important for this role.
