Volunteer Welcomer PM

Hilary’s Hut is a free over 45’s social meet up group to combat loneliness in the community and provide an information and friendship hub. 

We meet the third Wednesday of every month in Staines 2-4pm. 

We are looking for volunteers to ensure that all Members are greeted at the door on arrival and made to feel comfortable. 

To ensure all Members sign in on the Attendee Forms and that a name badge is given to members.

To ensure that all new members are made familiar with the Group and introduced to the volunteer lead or introduced to another member in their ‘corner’ of interest.

To ensure no Member is sitting alone, unless they wish to, by talking to them during the meet up, introducing them to others or engaging them in an activity. If needed, to befriend that member at group for the time they are there, play a game or sit and have chat/cup of tea.

Give members any information and support they need with any mobility aids or filling out any forms as required.

Respect for confidentiality and willingness to engage in Volunteer Meetings.

Basically no one is left alone or walks in without a warm welcome. 

What skills do I need?

We are looking for someone with a friendly, welcoming, and supportive, all-inclusive chatty nature, who enjoys meeting and including all people. 

Who recognises the importance of a warm and inclusive welcome. Ensuring that a member feels comfortable to enjoy the group and promote each corner for it’s worth and interest to that Member. 

Someone who is physically able to help set up & breakdown tables and chairs and help members with any mobility aids they may have.
