About the organisation:

Love Me Love My Mind is a small, registered charity based in Epsom Surrey which aims to promote better understanding of mental health and to support the wellbeing of everyone in the community. We are run entirely by volunteers and funded by grants and donations.

Our mission

To break down stigma and inspire understanding about mental health.
We hope to achieve this by:

●       Providing a regular Monday Drop-In session.

●       Organising the annual Epsom Mental Health Week

●       Offering encouragement, support and friendship to people with mental health issues and their families.

●       Signposting people to helpful mental health resources.

●       Challenging stigma wherever it occurs.

Trustees will work with the chair, board of trustees and volunteers supporting on activity that they agree to hold responsibility for in order to fulfil the purpose of the role.

Purpose of the Role:

Becoming a Trustee for Love Me Love My Mind can be an exciting and fulfilling role. The role of a trustee is to ensure that Love Me Love My Mind fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on its vision, mission and values.

General responsibilities of Trustees:

The board of trustees are both jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims,  objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

The statutory duties of all trustees include:

1. Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (pursuing the objects as defined in it), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

2. Maintaining financial control and ensuring that the organisation does not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objects, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are.

3. Contributing actively to the board of trustees in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

4. Ensuring financial stability of the organisation, protecting and managing any charity property and ensuring the proper investment of the charity's funds.

5. Drawing up and monitoring the implementation of internal policies which must include equality and diversity, safeguarding, as well as health and safety policies and key human resources policies, including grievance and disciplinary policies.

6. Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation and help maintain effective board performance.

7. Jointly with other trustees, holding the charity "in trust" for current and future beneficiaries

What skills do I need?

As a fundraising trustee the specific responsibilities that would also be expected are:

●       Lead the work to complete successful grant applications and fundraising activities that will ensure the charity maintains a healthy financial position.

●       Liaise and support fundraising activities from volunteers

●       Ensure that appropriate marketing activity is carried out for event

●       Manage communication with supporters to ensure that they have a good experience of the charity. 

The above list of duties is indicative only and not exhaustive. The trustee will be expected to perform all such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the role.

Availability Details

Time commitment: Trustees are expected to: ● attend at least a board meeting every quarter, and any additional meetings that the board feels appropriate. ● take on responsibility for an aspect of charity's work. This could include volunteer administration, fundraising, maintaining policies up to date or secretary. ● invest time to complete their own role and maintain awareness of charity policies and activities. ● complete appropriate training as agreed by the board of trustees
