Our daytime Drop-In is open to any adult. It particularly attracts lonely, homeless or unemployed people struggling with a range of issues. They all need a friendly face and a listening ear. It provides them with a non-judgmental environment and a community in which they can be themselves. The roles below will be supported by a Drop-In Leader.

At the weekend our Drop-In opens for lunch 12pm-1.30pm.

The shift starts at 11.45am and has a team of three people: A Drop-In Leader and two Assistants. Between them they prepare a hot snack for up to 15 people using items donated to RH or your own. They also prepare a parcel of cold snacks to take away. Guests have enjoyed things such as bacon or sausages sandwiches or soup. The take-away parcel includes fruit, sandwiches, crisps and a drink (checklist provided).

What skills do I need?

As well as preparing lunch, Drop-In Assistants will help out with any necessary tasks, including making drinks and carrying out cleaning of tables, toilets and high traffic areas.

A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene training is not mandatory, but preferable. We can organise training for you if you haven't got the qualification already.

Important to all our volunteer roles is the ability to make our guests feel welcome by chatting and listening. An acceptance of people from all walks of life and circumstances is vital.
