Overview: The Community Building Programme Champion is instrumental in spearheading initiatives and projects aimed at fostering community cohesion, resilience, and empowerment.

This role focuses on creating inclusive spaces and opportunities where individuals and families can connect, collaborate, and thrive together.

It needs to work collaboratively with the other programmes to explore synergies.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Development: Collaborate with local stakeholders, community groups, and residents to develop and implement a comprehensive Community Building Programme that addresses the diverse needs and aspirations of the community.

Conduct regular assessments and community consultations to identify priority areas and initiatives for programme development.

Establish clear goals, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with the KPIs to guide the planning and implementation of programme activities.

Develop a sustainable funding strategy to support various projects and initiatives within the Community Building Programme, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and financial goals.

Community Engagement and Empowerment: Facilitate community-wide events, forums, and workshops that encourage active participation, dialogue, and collaboration among residents.

Foster a sense of belonging, inclusivity, and social cohesion within the community through initiatives that celebrate diversity and promote mutual respect and understanding.

Empower residents to take ownership of community projects and initiatives, providing resources, training, and support as needed to build capacity and leadership skills.

Capacity Building and Skill Development: Offer skill-building workshops, training sessions, and educational programmes to equip residents with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to address community challenges and opportunities.

Provide mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities to emerging community leaders and volunteers, nurturing their potential and fostering a culture of engagement and collective action.

Neighbourhood Revitalisation and Enhancement: Coordinate efforts to enhance and beautify the area through community clean-up campaigns, green space revitalisation projects, and infrastructure improvements.

Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organisations to leverage resources and expertise for revitalisation initiatives.

Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of Community Building Programme activities and initiatives, collecting feedback and data to assess outcomes and inform future planning.

Prepare regular reports and presentations summarising programme achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

What skills do I need?

Passion for community development, social justice, and grassroots empowerment.

Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

Knowledge of community development principles, participatory approaches, and asset-based strategies.

Experience in working collaboratively with diverse groups and building partnerships across sectors and stakeholders.
