Vital Village CIC (CSVA)
Overview: The Culture & Diversity Programme Champion is responsible for fostering an inclusive and culturally diverse community environment within Vital Village and more generally in our community.
Other cultural aspects such as music and arts are also to be covered under this programme.
This role focuses on organising activities, events, and initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote cultural understanding, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all community members.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Development: Collaborate with cultural organisations, community leaders, and residents to develop a comprehensive Culture & Diversity programme.
Produce an annual forward looking planning exercise to be discussed with VV’s management team.
Identify and prioritise initiatives that promote cultural understanding and inclusion.
Suggest funding strategy for various activities within the Programme as well as maintaining expenditures within the agreed budget.
Events & Activities Coordination: Organise cultural events, workshops, and celebrations that highlight the traditions, customs, and heritage of diverse communities within our broader community.
Ensure resources and materials are available for program activities.
Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the community and cultural organisations, ensuring that community members have access to cultural resources and services.
Facilitate discussions and dialogues that promote cross-cultural understanding and harmony.
Recruit volunteer collaborators to support the Culture & Diversity programme and its activities.
Education and Awareness: Provide educational resources on cultural diversity, inclusivity, and the importance of respecting different traditions.
Raise awareness about cultural sensitivities and the benefits of a diverse community.
Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Culture & Diversity programs and initiatives.
Prepare regular reports on program outcomes and community participation.
Strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of cultural diversity, traditions, and customs.
Organisational and event planning skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of community members.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and an open-minded approach to different perspectives.

The Culture & Diversity Programme Champion position is typically flexible, with hours varying based on programme activities and community needs. Attendance at occasional evening or weekend meetings and events may be required. Vital Village acknowledges that we all have very busy lives, but by committing to this role, you will be expected to contribute as appropriate.
