Overview: The Elderly Programme Champion plays a vital role in designing, coordinating, and overseeing programmes and activities tailored to the needs and interests of elderly members within the community.

This position focuses on creating a supportive and enriching environment where seniors can socialise, learn, and maintain their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Development: Collaborate with local organisations, healthcare providers, and community members to develop a comprehensive Elderly Programme that addresses the unique needs and challenges faced by seniors.

Create an annual strategic plan outlining key objectives, initiatives, and resource requirements for the Elderly Programme.

Identify and prioritise initiatives that promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of elderly participants.

Develop a funding strategy for various activities within the Programme and ensure expenditures align with the allocated budget.

Engagement and Activities: Organise a variety of engaging activities, workshops, and social gatherings that cater to the interests and preferences of elderly members.

Foster a sense of community and belonging among participants through regular social events, group outings, and recreational activities.

Provide opportunities for lifelong learning and personal enrichment through educational seminars, guest lectures, and skill-building workshops.

Health and Wellness Initiatives: Plan health and wellness programmes that promote healthy ageing, including exercise classes, nutrition workshops, and preventive healthcare screenings.

Offer support services and resources to address common health concerns and challenges faced by elderly individuals.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide access to healthcare information, screenings, and referrals.

Cultural and Recreational Activities: Arrange cultural events, arts and crafts sessions, and cultural outings to celebrate diversity and encourage cultural exchange among elderly participants.

Organise recreational activities and leisure pursuits to enhance quality of life and promote social engagement.

Mentorship and Support: Establish mentorship programmes that connect seniors with peer mentors and supportive volunteers who can offer guidance, companionship, and assistance.

Provide emotional support, counselling, and referrals to community resources for seniors facing loneliness, isolation, or other challenges.

Empower elderly individuals to share their knowledge, experiences, and skills with others through mentoring and leadership opportunities.

Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Elderly Programme activities and initiatives, collecting feedback and data to assess impact and inform future planning.

Prepare regular reports on programme outcomes, participation rates, and key performance indicators.

Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. Understanding of ageing-related issues, health promotion, and best practices in eldercare.

The Elderly Programme Champion position is typically flexible, with hours varying based on programme activities and community needs.
