Vital Village CIC (CSVA)
Overview: The Sustainability Programme Champion plays a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability and responsible practices within our community. This role focuses on organising and facilitating initiatives, workshops, and activities that contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly community.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Development: Collaborate with environmental experts, sustainability organisations, and community members to develop a comprehensive Sustainability Programme promoting circularity and efficient use of resources widely available.
Produce an annual forward looking planning exercise to be discussed with VV’s management team.
Identify and prioritise sustainability initiatives and practices within the community.
Suggest funding strategy for various activities within the Programme as well as maintaining expenditures within the agreed budget.
Activity Coordination: Organise and coordinate workshops, events, and projects focused on sustainability, including the Stuff Depot, Food Depot, etc. Ensure the availability of resources and materials necessary for programme activities.
Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the community and sustainability-focused organisations.
Engage community members in discussions and events related to environmental conservation.
Recruit volunteer collaborators to support the Sustainability programme and its activities.
Education and Awareness: Provide educational resources on sustainable living, waste reduction, and eco-friendly practices.
Raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and its impact on community well-being.
Evaluation and Reporting Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programmes and initiatives.
Prepare regular reports on programme outcomes and community participation.
Strong passion for environmental sustainability and conservation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of sustainability principles, practices, and resources.
Organisational and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of community members.
Commitment to eco-friendly living and practices.

The Sustainability programme Champion position is typically flexible, with hours varying based on programme activities and community needs. Attendance at occasional evening or weekend meetings and events may be required. Vital Village acknowledges that we all have very busy lives, but by committing to this role, you will be expected to contribute as appropriate.
